I know it’s crazy to travel with two under two, but here we are, and there’s so much that we should and shouldn’t bring, but of course, we bought everything that we read about and it was a disaster. So, for all of you, I am letting you know what the best and worst things that we traveled with are.
The 5 Best Travel Items for Two Under Two
Ok, so let’s take these items with a grain of salt. Remember this is what worked for us while taking an 8.5-hour trip (broken up into segments of course).
A Portable Drying Rack — When I bought and packed this, my husband thought that I was crazy because we would be staying in Air BnBs that all had sinks and dishwashers, but boy did he eat his words. First, it came with a brush that could get into all the nooks and crannies of nipples, bottles, and pump parts, and second, we could quickly dry anything that we needed in hours.
Disposable Bibs — First, I want to say that our son hates bibs, but it was so much easier to have disposable bibs on vacation with us. Since we were eating out all of the time, we were able to just throw away the messy bibs. This meant that we didn’t have to worry about carrying around dirty bibs and hope to find time to wash them, and they were super compact and easy to pack versus having to keep 15 bibs ready and available just in case we couldn’t do the wash.
Bumco Diaper Clutch — I love my diaper bag, and of course, we had that with us as well for all of the activities that we did, especially when we needed to have bottles and warmers with us. But for running to the store to grab supplies or just running to dinner, the clutch is perfect. It’s small, but still holds everything that we needed to get a change in if needed. This isn’t just a staple for travel for us, but all that I take if I am running errands with the littles. This is large enough to hold what I need, yet small enough to fit in my purse.
Foldable Chair with Tray — We found this great foldable chair with a tray that was our “high chair” for the trip. Since it could be packed up in an easy to grab storage bag, we brought it to each Air BNB with ease and set it up on the chairs in the home (with the included straps) and even brought it to restaurants that didn’t have high chairs. Our older son loved this chair so much that he uses it at home to just lounge around.
Wet Dry Bags — I thought that wet/dry bags were silly until we had a major blowout during breakfast about three and a half hours from home. We couldn't stop to wash things and didn't want to sit in a stench for hours. This bag came in handy. I was able to wash out the clothing, put it in the bag, and deal with everything when we got home. It made the last few hours of the trip bearable.
